| Specifically for the construction project management deficiency in practice and the challenge being going to be confronted, this paper directs the sciences of complexity being on the development, re-understands construction project and rethinks"Construction Project Management (CPM)", in order to introduce new viewpoint and theory for enriching the CPM's fundamental theory,method and means, realizing the leap of CPM's value.Firstly, for the sake of providing theoretical foundation for complexity cognition and methodology of CPM rethinking, this paper introduces some theories about the sciences of complexity, analyzes the implication of complexity, discusses the contribution and limitation of holism and reductionism, and points out the methodology of the sciences of complexity should surpass holism and reductionism.On the base of normal form research, this paper puts forward the concept of Construction Project Complexity (CPC), points out the CPC is construction project's essential attribute, and CPC is a set of the ontology complexity and the epistemology complexity, then, this paper analyzes the internal and external performance of CPC.The next, this paper comes up with the concept of Construction Project Complexity Management (CPCM), believes that the emergence of CPCM is a result of CPM reform and the improvement of construction project cognition. Urgent tasks of promoting CPCM should be increasing awareness and transforming conception, devoting much attention to improvement of methodology, and complexity should be managed as complexity. Given the above thought, this paper introduces several complexity measurements, and introduces"Meta-synthesis"and"Wuli-Shili-Renli"into CPCM, puts forward and discusses two new management models, in order to supply new study angle and model for expending new situationFinally, in consideration of realizing major construction project management's value and promoting CPCM based on top-down, promoting CPM ultimately, this paper puts forward the concept of Gigantic Projects Management (GPM), which has three differences comparing with traditional CPM, and its essence still is CPCM. |
