Container depot is one of the most important parts in the process of container transportation. With ever growing volume of container transport in mainland,the demand for expanded Container depot is more urgent. It is vital to uplift the management and provide good service to make oneself stand out in the competitive marketplace like Ningbo due to the relative low investment threshold. The paper discusses the application of Six Sigma managing format about how to reduce the disadvantages in Container Yard and better service quality.Firstly,the paper analyses the background for Container depot's rising and its function in the process of container transportation,introducing the theory base and developing history of Six Sigma as well as the application of Six Sigma in small or medium-sized logistics company specialized in Container depot.Secondly,the paper focuses on the Container depot's function,trait and organization. The operational process and the service one provides is highly connected with the Container depot's function and trait which will decide whether the operational process and the service provided can work at best.The paper studies the situation of Ningbo Victory Depot applying Six Sigma. Currently,the disadvantages of Ningbo Victory Depot mainly present on 3 points: the efficiency and accuracy of container handling; customer service; the management of container repair quality. In order to deal with these disadvantages,the paper uses analytical method of SPIOC to draw the graphic flow. With method of DMAIC,the paper also evaluates and analyzes,based on the statistics and actual condition of Ningbo Victory Depot,the source of the problem and deficiency of operational flow. Thus,the proper solutions are brought forward to make improvement on the operation efficiency along with the customer service.
