Research On The Construction Of Small Towns In Taizhou And The Countermeasures

Since the declaration of the reform and open policy, economy development in Jiangsurural areas has been prominent in which the decisive factors are the practice of householdcontract responsibility system and the surge of township enterprises. Small townconstruction can be said to be one of the most important ways helpful to open rural market,expand domestic demand, attract rural surplus labors and increase the income of peasants. Itaccords with the actual state of ChinaLying in the middle of Jiangsu, Taizhou enjoys the advantage of obtaining the recentinformation. The small town construction in Taizhou has achieved a lot, however, there arestill some problems existing, for example (1) the size is too small and the concentrationand radiation effects are not obvious; (2) the lack of definite developing aims for smalltown construction and the strategic research and guidance on it;(3) the singularity ofinvestment in the construction and the low enthusiasm of many small towns.Firstly, the essay introduces the basic concepts and theories on rural urbanization andanalyzes the dynamic system of town construction. Therefore, the actual state of China tellsus that it is our reasonable choice to realize rural urbanization by developing small towns.The second part looks back, investigates and analyzes the history and the current situationof small town construction in Jiangsu and Taizhou. By quantizing and calculating therelative indicators, an assessment is made on small town construction in Taizhou andanalyzed the current level of urbanization of Taizhou.The third part analyzes the constraintson small town construction in Taizhou. The forth part puts forward some suggestions ontown construction in Taizhou based on the results discussed above.The significance of the research is to analyze the individual case of small towninstruction in Taizhou to explore the countermeasures of small town construction, avoid theserious waste caused by the blindness in town development, realize the construction anddevelopment of small towns, which means to modernize countryside, to industrialize and modernize agriculture, to develop rural economy, to relieve the conflict between pressure ofcountry population and the shortage of country resources so as to realize sustainabledevelopment of Taizhou agriculture.
