Design And Implement Of Personal Knowledge Management Plan

The Information Exploding is a very serious problem in our information society. Everything we have learned is facing the knowledge aging problem. We have no choice but to learn quickly and effectively. Whether you like it or not, we are on the road of learning all our lives.We didn't need to worry about what to study when we are in school, though the lessons may be far behind the time. But things are quite different after we left school. There are no stable and liable sources to get the knowledge we need and the right knowledge may be in everywhere. Furthermore, there is no such knowledge we need in the world until we create it. We have to search, value, use, think and even create the knowledge we need by ourselves. PKM(Personal Knowledge Management ) may help us to cope with such tough things by providing powerful tools for learning, acting as a person's External Brain, helping to integrate all kinds of knowledge segment, helping to improve a person's effectiveness and enhancing the abilities to cope with the stress from information environment.The term of "Personal Knowledge Management" originally came from Business administration field and it was used as a supplementary to Knowledge Management. Later the instructional technology circles used it as a new way to study E-Learning but they mainly concerned the usage of blog. The main viewpoint of PKM in China is still on the level of information management and many researchers only take "PKM" as a new tag to information management. Other researchers argue that knowledge mainly comes from interpersonal communication, so they take blog as a standard model of PKM because it can fulfil both writing and communicating. But the author did not agree with all such viewpoints exactly. Though the innovation of knowledge needs wide communicating with others, the author asserted that the valuable knowledge is developed under the thoughtful care of individual. So the author tried to develop some software tools to help to obtain and manage information and knowledge segment, to construct personal knowledge, and to find new knowledge.This paper gave a review to the former study of PKM in China and pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of the present methods and software of PKM. This paper then provided a new solution to PKM by using Personal Information Portal (PIP) and Meta Search Engine to obtain information and knowledge effectively and quickly, using bibliography files from online database to support knowledge mining, using a tool based on XML to help to create new knowledge. Additionally, this paper illustrated all the protype of software mentioned. In the end, the disadvantages of the new PKM solution and the prospect of PKM was also discussed.
