At the time of reform and open, many of our engineering companies go out of the nation, take part in international competition, expand international market, in order to develope and expand themselves. At the same time many large multinational corporations also come into our country. Compared with them, our engineering companies have a great way in the size of company, the level of technology and management, which will bring tremendous impact on our survival. Therefore one of the priority tasks of the engineering companies will be enhancing the management level of our engineering companies.In view of the above background, the authors of this paper chosen the study of performance evaluation about staff in production system of DH Engineering Company as the research topic of MBA's graduation thesis in an attempt to improve the management level of our engineering companies and increase our engineering companies'competitive ability.This paper makes a in-depth study about the work of performance evaluation of the engineering companis which take design as the principal part with the case introduction that DH engineering company, a small units which was set up in the early 1960s has become one of the large-scale engineering companis which take design as the principal part in chinese chemical industry after nearly 40 years of hard work and constantly forging. With the theory of performance evaluation and performance management, this paper takes consider on the work of performance evaluation and performance management of DH Engineering Company and analyzes the reasons of its success and the lack of its development, so as to to table a proposal and evaluation system for establishment and improvement of the performance evaluation of the staff in production system of Engineering Company.Though this paper takes DH Engineering Company which has its self-identity as template for the study of methods of performance evaluation about our Engineering system, it is valuable on the currency and popularization because our engineering companis'business processes are all similar considering of the workflow and other aspects. This paper may provide a valuable case to take the scientific, reasonable and effective work of performance evaluation in the engineering companies which take design as the principal part and the enterprises which is knowledge-intensive, high-technological and service-oriented.
