On the one hand, Science and Research develops increasingly from the highly division to the integrated cross, which makes scientific border expanding and fuzzy with the quick expansion and high complexity of knowledge. As a result the research can not adapt to such changes relying on the individuals. So more and more people are willing to research in a team because everyone can work according to their strengths and avoiding their disadvantage in such teams. Thus it is easy to achieve innovation. On the other hand, knowledge resource is the most important resource as well as knowledge is getting more complex, consequently it is necessary to strengthen the management of knowledge, that is to say knowledge management. As the purpose of knowledge management, knowledge innovation determines the innovation capability of research teams, and that research teams play micro and part in Chinese scientific and technological innovation system, its scientific and technological innovation capability can improve the innovation ability of the entire innovation system.The paper analyses the current development situation and research trend of domestic and international knowledge management and research team synthetically by use of systematic analytical method, especially studies the purpose and significance of knowledge management in research teams. And then it draws a frame of knowledge management in research teams. Further it classifies research teams into three sorts according to their main features such as university research teams, enterprise research teams and institute research teams. Furthermore it probes into main features and problems of research teams and knowledge management that determine the core phases of knowledge management in research teams and the key elements influencing knowledge management. Based on these works, it puts forward the knowledge management mechanism of three different research teams to understand knowledge management of three different research teams better and deeper and more thoroughly. In the end it presents knowledge management strategies and suggestions to solve corresponding knowledge management problems of each research team. The research of this paper provides essential theoretical method and tactical support for research teams to implement effective knowledge management and enhance comprehensive competitiveness.
