Development Of Xinjiang's Foreign Trade And Its Influence On Economic Growth

Since reform and opening up, our country's foreign trade and economic growth both have obtained achievements that make people focus attention upon them, but the economic gap between the east and west is still a restrictive factor that influent our country's total economic growth, our country's government in order to quicken the development of west's economy, constituted the policy of The Great Western Development. Recently, along with the speedup of The Great Western Development's course, as emphases in The Great Western Development, XinJiang's foreign trade has great development consequentially. What's the course of development, what the actuality is in recent years, what the restrictive factor is, and what the influence to economic growth is, these questions need more brown studies. The thesis used the combinative methods of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, analyzed the development of XinJiang's Foreign Trade and its influence to economic growth completely and objectively, gained the development status of XinJiang's Foreign Trade.In the last decade, XinJiang's Foreign Trade has been developing a lot. The trade sum showed ascending trend continuously, except the great descending in 2001 due to the rapid of international economy's growth knockdown, the demand reduced and nation's policy had been adjusted. As far as trade term was concerned, the main trade term in XinJiang was the frontier trade, it almost has reached a half sum. As economic type as be concerned, national economy's absolute sum has been ascending, as the same time its share that was replaced by private economy has been dropping, but national economy still was main economic type in XinJiang. Collective economy and foreign capital enterprises have been steady developed. In the last decade, the development of the export trade in XinJiang basically completed the structured transformation of merchandise from primary products to finished products, but the proportion of primary products were still higher than average level of nation, machine and transportable equipments' proportion were still low, it showed that the industrial foundation in XinJiang was weakness. The cotton products were still main export merchandise in XinJiang, it showed that "one white" industry was very important to XinJiang, in addition, knitted sweater, woolen cloth, intestine clothes, footwear and ketchup both were main export products in XinJiang, it showed that the products that had strongly export competition both were primary products in agriculture, contained produces of textile and dress, and these products both were products of dense labor products, but at the same time the export structure of industrial finished products has been also reformed. In westward provinces, XinJiang's international trade had very important position and was only inferior to SiChuan province.In addition, the thesis used the methods of index analysis, co integration test and granger test of causality, gained the relationship between international trade and economic growth: in the long-term condition, the increases of the export and import had promoted effect obviously. There was causality between export and national economy, the import was causal reason to national economy, but the national economy wasn't causal reason to import. Through analysis to the instance of development, we knew the great change of the international trade in XinJiang, but there is disparity when be contrasted to national level, it showed the demerit and measure of improvement, and give a referential data for local government that how develop the XinJiang's international trade, in order to gain the active effect for urging XinJiang or western area catch up with eastern area.
