The fast development of electronic information industry enlarges the market and development opportunity of semiconductor industry, also enhance the fierce competition. As an important portion of IC industry, IC fabless design house must shorten their delivery cycle time to quickly respond customer's demand so to survive at the market. But currently, the research and development of new product and production delivery of IC design house is enslaved to its subcontractor's production schedule. The main problem that these design houses meet is the dynamic change of the production cycle time.This research is on production cycle time base on the special characteristics of IC production. The special characteristics of IC production are that the different production stage located at different factory and its long dynamic cycle time. This research uses discrete-event simulation method, and base on real production data and information, simulation with ProModel for modeling. Be considering the detail production process and shipping procedure, such characteristics as resource, different activity duration necessary time, probability distribution, yield rate, capacity allocation. Simulation and analysis IC production system in the case such as average production cycle time, usage of the quantity of resource, resource allocation, factory capacity neck, etc. The simulation result can be used for production planning, shorten production cycle time, reduce inventory, forecast and guarantee delivery time.
