Five multinational companies which were internationally renowned in the world have joined to Guangxi forestry by the end of 2002.These companies carry out the massive forestation in Guangxi, the total of plan planting area (industrial raw material forestry) will be 1,120,001hm~2. So these multinational companies have rented massive forestry land for planting eucalyptus and other short-rotation fast growing forest in the region. How to realize sustainable forest management in foreign enterprises for Guangxi is a great significant meaning for solving these problems, such as ecological, economic and social problems. Because they have a large scale areas of the forest which involves wide ranges.Based on the theoretical and practical achievements up to the present, this paper analyses a series of problems caused in foreign enterprises managing forest resources in Guangxi, identifies the root of the problems, and gives out effective and available solution. the aim of the research is offering a reliable theoretical and practical basis for foreign enterprises in managing forest resources in Guangxi, and speeding up the development of sustainable forestry.The research shows that five measures should be do to realize sustainable forest management for foreign enterprises in Guangxi. 1 .The functions of the government should be changed from the enterprise management to provide enterprises with services. 2. Reform of the forestry system including establishing a good assessment of forest assets, building forestland market system, in order to optimize the allocation of resources. 3. Carry out the technical training, improve the mechanism for guaranteeing labor workers so as to solve the problem of labor organizations. 4. The enterprises should improve and perfect themselves from the internal management, environmental and social responsibilities, to raise the quantity and quality of forestland, to pass certifications, and so on. 5. The restraint mechanism on forest management process should be built in order to promote sustainable management. |
