Nowadays China is building a harmonious society and taking community tourism as an approach to realize the harmonious tourism. However, the development of community tourism should not only focus on the remote or undeveloped areas, but also the urban community. Combing the construction of urban community and tourism development together is undoubtedly an important strategic way for building harmonious city and protecting civil culture heritage and culture features. As for the urban tourism part, urban community tourism can highlight the uniqueness of civil culture, thus better enriching and satisfying travelers' need for the civil culture experiencing and enjoying, which will give a great impetus for the sustainable development of urban tourism. As for the community developing part, community tourism can make the best use of community resources that will benefit the community on environment improvement, landscape protection and the culture and economic development, thus prompting the building of a harmonious community. Therefore, urban community tourism is being and should be the key strategic way for the urban to promote tourism competitiveness.Tourism indeed, as a comprehensive social phenomenon, is manifesting in complex ways and its impacts that may be positive or negative are comprehensive. However, no matter the positive impacts or the negative ones, they all will manifest outstandingly in the destination community and the local residents will detect these impacts foremost. The residents' perception of the impact will then affect their attitude to the travelers and to the development of local tourism which will further affect the development and construction of local community or scenic area and the local government and tourism developers' decision and attitude to the tourism development. Therefore, the research on the residents' perception to tourism impact is the precondition of developing urban community tourism, the foundation of planning community tourism, the means of initiating the society to pay attention to the disadvantaged group, and also the important guarantee for obtaining the win-win result between community construction and tourism development.Based on the urban tourism theory, community theory, core-margin theory, sustainable development theory, and tourism development stage theory, this thesis is an effort to study the local residents' perception to tourism impact in the following three aspects:------Related theories on Community Tourism. First of all, be base on the systematical analysis of community tourism and related research achievements home and abroad, to discern the implication of urban community tourism, the type of community tourism destination and the features of tourism attraction. Secondly, to recognize that Urban Community Tourism is a kind of tourism activity based on the local urban community. It is not only an important form of urban tourist product, but also an effective pattern for urban tourism's space organization and development, and resident participation is its key feature.------Research on the Residents' Perception to the Tourism Impact. Thisthesis elaborates the impact range, portrays the tourism impact in the sphere of residents' perception as well as offers the general model of impact producing process and proposes adjustable mechanism accordingly in terms of theory.------Case studies. Taking Shanghai Old Street as the demonstration case, thisthesis constructs the perception research model for urban community tourism impact by analyzing the questionnaire survey from old street residents. Employing the factor and clustering analysis to sum up the perception features of the residents, thus analyzing its growth status, current situation and competitiveness. Then the thesis puts forward the measures of developing community tourism for Shanghai Old Street.
