As the development of modern technology and information industry, the emergence of internet gives new opportunities of tourist industry. Traditional tourist industry finds its way in the wave of internet tourism. Though much in number, few tourism web site could fit in market and provide excellent service. The website of ctrip (www. Ctrip.com) became the first tourism web site ever selling stock in NASDAQ by distinctive business model and operation.Targeting on Ctrip, this article demonstrates the importance and necessity of Ctrip's internet operation model to Chinese tourism e-commerce by analyzing the present situation and existing problems in Chinese tourism e-commerce. On the basis of previous academic resources by domestic scholars in recent years, this paper introduces the situation of and competitive edge on three stages: the development process, management structure and operation fruits. Ctrip's competitive edge could be summed up as distinctive branding positioning, modern operation model, combined marketing strategies and strategic partnership. More valuable business mind of tourism e-commerce could be found in this article.
