With the development of the knowledge economy, the creation, transmission and application of the knowledge has been the key for the corporation gaining its comparative advantage, therefore the effective incentive to knowledge workers has been the core point of contemporary human resource management and corporation sustainable development. Needs bring forth motivation and motivation drives action. The premise and key of effective incentive to knowledge workers is to seize the characteristics of needs accurately. Empirical research is done for knowledge workers'needs characteristic in the economy and culture background of China in the paper. Undoubtedly, it is of significant scientific value and realistic significance on enhancing the incentive effect to knowledge workers.First of all, in light of the needs extracted by the means of studying relevant documents and interview, a needs model of knowledge workers in Chinese enterprises is built up. Then statistic analysis of questionnaire data collected from 121 managers and technicians in different areas in China is carried out with SPSS14.0 for Windows to prove the hypothesis. A series of quantitative research into knowledge workers'attention and satisfaction level towards the needs in the assumed model is taken. And what is more, the influence which exerted upon knowledge workers'preferences by the demographic variables such as sex, age, diploma and pattern ownership of enterprises is investigated. We reach the following conclusions due to discussion above: Five dimensions consisting of 19 needs are identified by knowledge workers in Chinese enterprises which are individual maturity, realizing self-value, culture supports, working in one's own master and income. Five needs are regarded as the most significant which are salary and welfare, training, prospect of enterprise, shared vision and challenging task in proper order. The satisfaction level towards needs is low universally and noninterference from superiors, elastic management, justice, shared vision and sharing in profits is of the lowest satisfaction level among 19 need factors. There is a big gap between knowledge workers'attention and satisfaction level towards needs and sharing in profits, shared vision, justice, salary and welfare and training is of the biggest gap among 19 needs. The demographic variables such as sex, age, diploma pattern ownership of enterprises exert a great influence upon knowledge workers'preferences.
