On one hand, corporations in the industry of natural monopoly often lack incentives to develop; on the other, most of the natural monopolistic industries offer public products, so the performance of their goods and services influences both their own profits and the performance of the corporations which consume their products. Thus the problem of corporation development in natural monopolistic industry must be solved for both sakes. The dissertation chooses electric power industry, the typical natural monopolistic industry, as the object of the research to show that transnational comparison & contrast can play a role in enhancing the development of electric power corporations and the approach should be applied to other natural monopolistic industries. Previous studies on the problem focus on reorganization of the industry and reinforcement of government control, but reorganization cannot really solve the problem and government control can only provide a kind of external pressure or restriction. The paper tries to reveal that transnational contrast & comparison can provide a kind of internal pressure so as to boost its development. The body of the dissertation firstly introduces the theories on which the transnational contrast & comparison depends, such as the theory of natural monopoly, the theory of organization development and the theory of benchmark management, secondly tries to apply approaches in economics to prove the value of transnational contrast & comparison in corporation development. In the end, the paper analyzes in detail the case of power supply company N to confirm the author's opinion from the angle of fact.
