Research On The Enterprise Information Portal And The Solution For EIP

The conception of EIP (Enterprise Information Portal) was brought forward in 1998, it went to a boom in China between 2001 and 2002. But many EIP related projects were stopped in the following years; both business field and academic field have oppugned EIP. Can EIP provide a real, unified information entrance for the whole enterprise? Will EIP be the bridge between the "islands of information"? Can we implement an EIP that fulfill the conception?In recent years, The EIP implementations achieve success in the industry of oil, electricity and government, as well as some international enterprises and big corporation groups. Those successful implementations bring the enterprises big benefit both in economy and society. Along with the redefining of EIP; more and more enterprises expect to gain a new justified impression of EIP; and then, add EIP to the blue print of the information construction.This thesis begins with the analysis and re-define of EIP, from the following aspects: generation, development and direction in future; current situation of applications in domestic. In order to help enterprises assigning resources and investment in an efficient way, the critical success factors of implementing EIP is in the beginning parts. Secondly, this thesis concentrates on the crucial technologies of EIP, and the EIP market. The expatiation of EIP market include: the software suit from the biggest vendors, the solution of the main domestic solution providers and the main open source EIP platforms. On the basis of the first two parts, a demo EIP system based on Jetspeed 2 is implemented. And the fundamental applications of basic functions are given in this thesis. In conclusionpart, it is the summary and prospect of EIP technology and market.
