Lean Construction Theory And Application In Construction Project

The current construction project theory can not meet the requirement of project management, showing defects in time, cost and quality. How to enhance the level of construction project management and satisfy the clients has become the critical issue. By introducing lean construction theory to construction management field, the thesis analyzes the current problems and tries to provide the solution. The thesis's study focuses on the following aspects:1. The production theoryLike industrial product, the construction project is also production. There are three production theories, namely the conversion model, the flow model and value generation model. Lean thinking is formed after the analysis of production theory.2. Leaning thinking and its application in manufacture industryThis part focuses on the origin of the leaning thinking and its principles. It then analyzes the use of leaning thinking in Toyota Company and summarizes the management idea.3. The structure framework of leaning construction theory and its characteristicsThis part focuses on the concept and definition, the structure and implementation framework of leaning construction theory. It then stresses on the five characteristics, namely customer requirement management, design model change, enhance performance through less change, standardized management of construction project and project process performance evaluation.4. The Supplement technology to implement lean construction theoryThe supplement technology include process-reengineering technology, value engineering management, latest planning technology, relation contract and partnering. This part focuses on the basic theory and application of those technologies in lean construction theory.Study has shown that lean thinking proposed in the thesis and the theory framework, as well as the supplement technology can meet the current need of project management and promote the management level of construction industry.
