The Industrialization Status And Development Strategy Of Hybrid Rice Seed Production Industry In Xinyi City

In the thesis, we investigated the industrialization status of Hybird rice seed production industry (HRSPI) in Xinyi city. On the base of the results, some potential problems limiting the industrialization of HRSPI and the new development strategy for HRSPI were discussed.The history of HYSPI in Xinyi city has been more than 30 years, which produced a positive effect on promoting the farmer's income and agriculture development. Till the end years of last century, it has been established the field of 1000 hectare for producing hybird rice seed (HRS) in Xinyi city and up to one million kilogram HRS per year were produced and distfibutcd to many provinces of china. However, in recent years, the farmer's enthusiasm and the field area for producing HRS presented a decreasing trend, which seemed to be universal phenomena in every HRSPI regions of china. Taking Xinyi's HRSPI as an example, we investigated the industrialization status of HRSPI and discussed some problems limiting the HRSPI development. The results will advantage the HRSPI developing.Through questionnaires and interviews with farmers in Xinyi HRSPI region, we found the reasons that why thrmers have an unwilling manner in producing HRS and why the HRSPl goes down in the drain. The reasons summarized as follows, 1) there was no significant. difference of income between planting general cereals and producing HRS; 2) the seed industry companies of Xinyi had many defects in their managing system. By analyzing the problems in management system of nationalization seed industry companies, we proposed that reform is the only way for the development of nationalization seed industry companies. Combining many interrelated references with self-practice experience of several years in producing HRS, we proposed that the methods for development of seed industry companies in Xinyi city. They were listed as follows: 1) innovating technique and increasing grain-yield per hectare; 2) perfecting management system and improving seed quality; 3) using law to strengthen the field management of HRSPI and the HRS quantity; 4) insuring the enough field area for producing HRS through increase the price of HRS and farmer's income; 5) the seed industry company should seize the reform occasion to seek supporting organizations and combine researching institutions, in order to speed the foundation of incorporate industry situation of HRSPI integrated with breeding, propagating, selling, producing and purchasing.In addition, the developing trend of Chinese HRSPI was also discussed in the thesis.
