Research On Equipment Manufacturing Sector Of Liaoning Taking Advantage Of FDI

Sincel990s, the rapid growth of foreign direct investment (FDI) has accelerated the economic globalization and promoted the reallocation of the worldwide productive capital. More and more scholars and the governments begin to pay attention to the effect of foreign direct investment in the development of the local economy. To most of the host countries, more practical is considered to realize a competitive industry by taking good advantage of the opportunity to cooperate with the foreign enterprises making a rapid progress in the technological field.Liaoning, whose traditional advantage lies in the equipment manufacturing sector, is the heavy industry center of China, and also is one important base of the research and productions. The equipment manufacturing sector is an important pillar industry of Liaoning. The revitalization and economic development of Liaoning mainly depend on the development of Liaoning's industrial equipment manufacturing. Therefore, vigorously developing the equipment manufacturing sector of Liaoning is of great realistic significance. Since our country was founded, Liaoning has established a good foundation for the equipment manufacturing sector. But in recent years, due to institutional, industrial and other factors, Liaoning is gradually losing the important status as "excellent Chinese equipment supplier". This paper focuses on how to grasp the opportunity of promoting the old industrial bases in northeast of China and the shift of International Equipment Manufacturing industries actively seeking an excellent opportunity to cooperate with the world's leading equipment manufacturing enterprises and maximizing the positive effects of FDI to upgrade the competition capability of equipment industry of Liaoning.After reading and consulting about a lot of the research findings about FDI of scholars domestic and abroad, the author got the first-hand information on Liaoning's equipment manufacturing sector taking advantage of FDI, by visiting the relevant government departments and enterprises. On this basis, the author summarizes the status and characteristics of Liaoning's equipment manufacturing sector's using FDI. By collecting and researching on the relative data from 2001 to 2005, in the following empirical analysis, the author analyzes the problems existing in Liaoning's equipment manufacturing sector's using FDI and put forward the countermeasures and suggestions on useing FDI of the equipment manufacturing sector of Liaoning from the perspective of government, industries and enterprises.
