Wuhan Petrochemical Works is a giant enterprise of Sinopec Group. It has been putting into using distributed control system (DCS) in all units of the whole factory since the year of 2000 to carry out the information-based management, raise the level of quality management in production process for the goal of gaining advantage in the market, which brings additional problems to its production process quality management. Exactly according to the new problems that Wuhan Petrochemical Works facing, this paper carries on the study of its quality management improvement in production process after the adoption of DCS.Firstly, the paper analyzes the main problems existing in its production process quality management since the usage of DCS in Wuhan Petrochemical Works adopting methods such as quantitative analysis and inquisition research, etc. Through the way of system engineering and process management, the paper points out that the main problems existing in Wuhan Petrochemical Works' production process quality management are as follows: the HSE management system and QMS can't merge well; quality improvement in production process lacks rewords, the economic benefits of quality is not enough, and the environmental protection lacks enough results. Secondly, the paper finds out the key causes to the questions which are as follows: the deadlock of quality management conception fails to integrate current various management systems, the methods of the product technique function improvement fall behind; the lack of the usage of science tools that can raise the quality performance, and the neglect of environmental protection work in the current quality management system. Finally, on the base of deeply analyzing the reasons to the questions, following the main line of TQM theory, applying advanced quality management theories, combining knowledge of many subjects such as total quality management, six sigma management, ecological quality management, system engineering, information managing, organization behavior, the paper researches the improvements of production process quality management in Wuhan Petrochemical Works after its adoption of DCS and puts forward improvement countermeasures from two major levers.
