As the fruit of economic cooperation between two powerful companies, FAW and VW Germany, FAW-VW's business is soaring step by step from production output to sales record since the year 1991. In the year 2006, FAW-VW's yearly output and sales volume broke though 350,000 cars. With this record, it took the bronze medal in domestic car market, following Shanghai GM and Shanghai VW closely. However, with the trend of market growth, large amount of new car companies came up. The biggest challenges to our formers are their fast birth speed, large varieties ,and cheap price.In this paper,the subcontract of MPV T4 is investigated and analyzed by FAW-VW,with main contents of how to apply the method and skills of project management that has been established based on the publicly accepted managing theory into the operations as arrangement ,planning and execution of MPV T4 project of FAW-VW ,so to resolve the specific problems encountered during project operation in the state-owned company huge like this.MPV T4's introduction takes a long and complicated process. Main periods are as follows :Under this circumstance, it has become the key factor of our company's development that how to scientifically apply project management skill and method on the introduction of new products, and produce cars subject to our product strategy and market demand on precondition of high quality, advanced technique. Feasibility analysis, product development, preparation of system and relevant technique files, part list car assembly, PVS tryout production; 0S small batch production and SOP of normal production etc. Project group members are fully aware of all these periods and well experienced, they stipulate all working plans based on different phase and characteristics .In each period, concrete target and outcome were pointed out. At the same time, each task has a corresponding responsible department and people. Time schedule is also clearly written. Main work content of the project manager is keep close watch on the progress of each task in comparison of project timetable ever and again; Trouble shooting in time; coordinating and finding solution in time so as to keep the project in the right way of development.First of all ,it is the key for whether success or failure for how to form a suitable project organization under the existing company's organization .Incorporating the researches by the relative project organization was finally adopted for this MPV T4 project ,which has been testified as successful during its operation.Project planning is another key job .The relatively simple and easy-ti-operate chart method ,instead of the currently popular but more complicate network skill planning ,was used to work out the project plan for the MPV T4 project of FAW-VW .This just reflect the idea of theory that must be incorporated with reality ,which is quite important for putting project management theory into specific application.As we know the project trace and control are the essential process of project management .In the process of trace and control of MPV T4 Project jointly participated by FAW,FAW-VW and VWG, project control meeting were considered information and work out measures. The management of FAW-VW responsible for MPV T4 project has chosen the manufacturing procedure and quality as the object of trace and control ,and established and effective procedure and quality assurance system, overcome the severe manufacturing delay duet planning error and therefore ,to eventually delivered the qualified products on time.While project planning ,tracing and controlling ,communication is quite necessary and important. The communication of MPV T4 project includes those both inside and outside of the organization .Within the organization ,a reverse"Y"shape communication channel was built and with the major forms like instructions & report ,meeting & individual communication helped by internal publications and propagandas column to make an effective information transmit .As for the external communication with FAW and VWG ,based on the principle of early and positive communication ,the project management has built a communication background of mutual trust for information transmit by means of the Contract specified meetings and mail exchange.To companies, summarizing carefully for all necessary issues is very important. Timely summarization can make the following work benefit from it and it also helps to correct the wrong action in time; by sharing these experiences, team members can improve their ability. Talking about this project, summarization in time is a strong guarantee for correction and project control .By referring to the projects accomplished before, new projects can benefit from both experience and lesson, so that we could reduce the faults and promote management ability in the long run.Viewing from the overall project management structure ,the MPV T4 project management of FAW-VW has obvious limitations in respect to risk and man resource management .But this is mostly due to the chronic disease of the state-owned enterprises on the system .Further deeper reform is still needed for executing overall project management among the state-owned enterprises .Deepening reform and improving management level of the state-owned enterprises are related to each other.
