| In the past 20 years, China has attracted an enormous amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) through the policy of reforming and opening-up. FDI has promoted the industries from developed countries to transfer to China and has accelerated the industrialization process of China. With the entry into WTO, China has become the largest country in the world to attract FDI. The acceleration of international industrial structure adjustment and industrial transfer as well as the urgent needs of new-type industrialization make industrial structure adjustment and industry upgrading essential for the promotion of industrial international competitive power of China. The adoption of more direct FDI incentive policy and the enhancement of industrial structure upgrading effects of FDI are a key issue to solve in the process of China's utilizing FDI.In Chapter One, on the basis of an analysis of basic theories of industrial structure adjustment, an introductory probe is made into the relationship between FDI and industrial structure upgrading. In Chapter Two, through setting up of an economic model, the role of FDI incentive policy in industrial structure upgrading is made a key analysis of. From the perspective of case studies, Chapter Three and Chapter Four deal with the replacement effect on regional main industries of the introduction of FDI with the development of IT industry in Suzhou as an example and FDI inadequacy and over-competition caused by some industry's barriers as fertilizer industry as an example. After an analysis of the fundamental characteristics of international industrial leadership, Chapter Five suggests that China should implement the strategies of incepting industrial transferred advantage, industrial overtaking advantage, industrial pioneering advantage and form a reasonable combination of resources, capitals and techniques, is a desirable approach to China's cultivation of industrial leadership. |
