Intellectual property rights (IPRs) protection has been a hotspot for a country's internal and international policies in the globalization of economy and technology. An appropriate IPRs system is especially important for developing countries to win through the technical predicament and promote economic growth. However, considering the theoretical achievement and the research nowadays, most of the experts put the emphases on the research of the law of IPRs itself rather than on the relationship between IPRs and economic growth. There is little research on the impact of IPRs protection on economic growth and welfare in developing countries, which is far behind the requirements of economic practice. Therefore, the study on impact mechanisms of IPRs protection on economic growth in developing countries from a macro-level is of great practical and theoretical significance.By using normative and demonstrative, qualitative and quantitative, dynamic and comparative approaches, this thesis is to bring together the relative theories such as the economics, neo-institutional economics, economics of development, international economics and statistics, analyze the impact mechanisms of IPRs protection on economic growth in developing countries.In theoretical research aspect, this thesis starts from a general innovation-imitation model, showing the significance of IPRs protection on protecting the interests of innovators, while developing the south-north technological diffusion model to analyze the impact mechanisms of IPRs protection on innovation, imitation and international technology transfer in developing countries.In empirical research aspect, we validate the conclusion of theoretical research by setting up a series of statistic indexes, and practicing a regression analysis on the basis of panel data of 85 developing countries.The main findings and conclusions of our work are that IPRs protection practices some effects on economic growth in developing countries through the protection of native innovation and international technology transfer, that such effects...
