In petroleum-chemical engineering, equipments are in the need of increasingly effective management. To decrease the loss deriving from disabled facilities and to help and save economically in their maintenance and inspection, it has already been strongly concerned about how to apply modern science and technology of security. The risk-based inspection(RBI),proved highly efficient as a technique of risk administration practically, has been widely found in oil industry.Beginning with researching upon the safety supervision & detection aiming at petrochemical equipments in service, the article presents the RBI flow chart and helpful advice as reference to popularize the RBI technique within refining plants. It comprises five parts as follow:First Chapter: In this section, the RBI developing background and current situation is introduced with the contents and targets of its research.Second Chapter: This part includes the definition of risk, the fundamental theories, common methods and basic procedure regarding risk assessment.Third Chapter: Firstly, the features of traditional equipment administration and RBI are notified respectively. Following, it is described with emphasis about the fixation and the analysis process of the risk grades for petrol-chemical equipments, and how to confirm the methods & program of equipment inspection. In the end, the frequently used managing soft wares are provided.Fourth Chapter: About how the situation of RBI used in plants FCC & HDS actually is like.Fifth Chapter: Except from the rules, criterion and foundation related to RBI, the author drew conclusions upon what to watch out during the RBI in use and problem-shooting strategy.
