India has paid great attention to its trade and economic cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) since its independency. Disappointedly, however, due to the effect of various factors, the development of India-ASEAN cooperation was relatively slow before 1990s. Nevertheless, the bilateral trade and economic relations haven't proceeded into the highway of development until the Indian government's "Look East" Policy was issued in the middle of 1990s. With the further development of India-ASEAN trade and economic cooperation, the bilateral regional cooperation has presented several different levels, like the regional cooperation pattern of "India + ASEAN", as well as some important sub-regional cooperation patterns, such as "Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand Economic Cooperation", "Mekong-Ganges Economic Cooperation" and " China, India, Myanmar, Bangladesh Regional Cooperation" .With the trend of economic globalization, China, as the same as a large developing country, which is the neighbor of India and ASEAN, is inevitably confronted with the effects of the closing India-ASEAN cooperation. The development of India-ASEAN cooperation not only provides China an unprecedented opportunity for its peaceful rise, but also brings great challenges to the foreign economic development of China. Under the situation that the opportunities and challenges coexist, China ought to be active to construct a good economic relation among the three partners based upon the win-win principles.
