Study On Residents' Income Disparity Of China: 1978～2004

China has achieved high economic growth after Economic Reform, but the income distribution mechanism has changed at the same time, and made residents'income disparity increasing. Now, the widening of residents'income disparity has blocked economic rapid and healthy development, and influenced the stabilization of society, it has been a bottleneck of our Economic Reform.Therefore, we should research the subject of residents'income disparity carefully, and find a good way to get rid of the effect of income disparity on economic growth and society stabilization. If we can do it, it's not only good for enlarging demand, but also good for the stabilization of society. It's very important for the process of our Economic Reform. So, I write this thesis about"residents'income disparity of China".In this thesis, first, I have reviewed the research about residents'income disparity in recent year, and found out the characteristic of research data, method and results in those papers. Then, I summarized those theories which interpret income disparity and math methods which measure income disparity.Second, I collect the provincial, rural-urban and otherwise data of China from year 1978 to 2004, calculate and decompose the countrywide income disparity, rural-urban income disparity, regional income disparity, inner-rural and inner-urban income disparity by Gini Coefficient and Theil Index and other methods. Our results show the present situation and space-time evolvement of China's income disparity, reveal the most important source and component of residents'income disparity of China. By researching, I have obtained many revelations about the subject and write in this thesis.Last, in this thesis, it objectively analyzes and comments the causes of the widening of residents'income disparity by theoretical analysis and data proving. And in view of the conditions of our country, I offer some countermeasures to minimize the income disparity at the end of this thesis.
