The Changing Of Human Settlement And Quantity Analysis Of Economic Benefits Of DaLian Since 1990s

Human settlements are an integrated system. With the development of the world's economy and the process of urbanization, human settlements have become a common issue concerned by architecture, programming, exploitation and so on. Generally speaking, human settlements are the summation of physical facility and ecotope, which are utilized by denizens. Human settlements should not only satisfy people's biological needs of living, but also the spiritual needs on psychology, ethic and esthetics. In this sense, human settlements reflects the culture, living level and civilization of a time. The optimization of human settlements is a complicated project, including the perfection of urban function, the adjustment of industrial structure, improvement of residential areas' condition, construction of human landscape and so on. Human settlements are the fundamental condition and location of people's living. The modernization of human settlements is the guarantee of prosperous economy and advanced technology. The development of economy determines the quality of people's living, on the other hand, the improvement of human settlements will create favorable conditions for economy's development. The government of DaLian has taken up with the optimization of human settlements for years, upon which people's living standard has been improved, the city's economy has well developed and the competitiveness of the city has been strengthened. This paper makes a pilot study on the changes of human settlements and economic benefits of DaLian since 1990s.Taking DaLian as a case, firstly the paper introduces the changes of DaLian's human settlements in several areas: dwelling levels, municipal infrastructure, housing location and urban function. Secondly the paper gives a qualitative analysis of the effect between human settlements and economy, then gives a quantitative analysis of the effect based on the data of DaLian from 1990 to 2002, and draws a conclusion of the relationship between human settlements and economy by establishing multiple regression equations by SPSS software. At last there is the conclusion: policy and economy are two major factors among all that affect the human settlements. Human settlements have great economic benefits. The reinvestment will be greater with the improvement of human settlements, which can promote the development of concerned industry economy. From 1990 to 2002, the economic benefit of human settlements is 37.445 billion yuan, whose accumulative contribution is 53.3%.The environment's effect on economy is lagging. The promotion to economy caused by the improvement of human settlements will last for years, and there is very strong interactional effect between human settlements and economy.
