Dynamic Conservation And Gradual Renovation

As one of main constituent departments of a city, the commercial street in the historical city is not only reflects the developing levels of a city's society, economy and culture, but also reflects the history feature of a city. In nowadays, under the tide of large-scale redevelopment, renovation and conservation of the commercial street in the historical city has become the most important mission we encountered. The mode of static protection and impetuous renewal has been proved unfit in the past renewal practices. The mode can't protect the commercial street which is an irreproducible architectural heritage in appropriate way. And the commercial street in the historical city has been heavily destroyed in this reconstructive mode also. We should search a new way of sustainable development for the commercial street in the historical city, which is the focus in this paper---- dynamic conservation and gradual renovation. The results of study are as follows:(1) Carrying on the dynamic conservation and gradual renovation to the commercial street in historical city must follow following five basic principles:①Take overall coordination principle from the city into consideration,②the equal importance of protection and renewal in organic development principle,③Maintain the dynamic development principle,④Persists the diversified development principle,⑤Both "top down" and "down top" principles.In order to express a long-term feasible sustainable develop strategy which could treat city as an evolution system, the reconstruction of commercial street in historical city should be guided by these principles and then apply it step by step in certain circumstance.(2) The landscape characteristic of traditional commercial culture in historical commercial cities street is composed by historical architecture and the pattern of the street space.
