In the 21st century, the core of economic development resource changes to human resources. Therefore, human resources basically constitute the socio-economic activities and enterprises operation. And performance appraisal is a core component of human resources management. The level of performance appraisal and management is directly related with achievement of strategy of enterprises.The thesis clarified the conceptions of performance appraisal and performance management, and focused on improving the performance appraisal system of functional department of ZJ Company since performance appraisal is key factor of performance management, also described relevant theories of performance management. Meanwhile, according with relevant theories of performance management, the thesis analyzed the problems and the causes of problems existed in original performance appraisal system of functional departments of ZJ Company.
