Study On Wolong Visitors' Center Design

As a kind of tourist buildings, visitors'center appears in the process of modern tourism developmen. United States National Park named the new type of building visitor center, in "Mission 66". Visitors'center shows the distinct regional and modernity, cause it is the connection between the foreign tourists and the local cultural. In recent years, this building type has a significant progress and tend to mix regional elements with modern elements.In China, nowadays, visitors'centers are made to be the landmarks in many scenic spots. Since the visitors'center has a long history in Europe countries and the United States, this thesis trys to make a summary of the theory and projects in those countries. In combination with a real project in China, this thesis wants to find a proper way for other chinese visitors'center design.Wolong visitors'center project is universality and particularity. Wolong SAR (Wolong Nature Reserve) has a rich natural and cultural landscapes and tourism industry is in good shape, so it is similar to other tourist attractions. Nevertheless, the design has been completed in post-disaster reconstruction period after Sichuan earthquake. The article begins with the origin, development and characteristics of visitors'center. The first chapter research the regional elements and modern elements of visiters'center, and introduce some examples. The second to the fourth chapters, introduce the design process of visitors'center in Wolong. The fifth chapter makes analysis and comparison of different designs, and brings up some design trends of visitors'center in the further.
