In the times of knowledge economy, knowledge workers, as principal part of organizations, job stress is increasing, and job stress is closely bound up to work performance. At the same time, the relationship of job stress and work performance has different results in previously study. So I introduce self-efficacy and demographic variables to explain why different individual has different effects. I expect the results of this research of three variables'relationship can provide convincing demonstrational support for job stress and self-efficacy management of knowledge workers and improve work performance.There are three steps during the research of this thesis: first, investigate and interview then emend the questionnaires. Second, extend the questionnaires and collect data. Finally, statistical analyze and abstract conclusion. Through This statistical research,results as follows are attained:1. Self-efficacy is a mediator between expectation job stress and work performance. Job stress is not a independent variable to work performance, it's effect to work performance passed by Self-efficacy. Especially to include task performance, Self-efficacy is a hundred-percent mediator.2. Self-efficacy is a moderator between expectation stress and work performance. When knowledge workers have high Self-efficacy, high job stress can come out high work performance. When knowledge workers have low Self-efficacy, high job stress will produce bed work performance. So Self-efficacy modulates the relationship of job stress and work performance. If we want to put job stress on knowledge workers, we should make sure that the Self-efficacy will don't go down.3. Gender, age, work experience, position sorts and education of demographic variables have marked impact on job stress and self-efficacy, then impact on work performance.(1)Man and techno-position knowledge workers are subject to expectation stress, the higher stress of expectation, the higher work performance. The impact of expectation stress on female, techno-position knowledge workers is not remarked. (2)When knowledge workers have high self-efficacy, bachelor and old-aged knowledge workers get better performance than master young-aged knowledge workers. (3)Generally speaking, if knowledge workers have long job time, they will have high self-efficacy and work performance.The innovations of the paper are these points: 1introduce self-efficacy to the relationship of job stress and work performance, and prove that self-efficacy is a mediator and moderator. 2Think over demographic variables have impact on relationship of job stress, self-efficacy and work performance. 3Define domain-linked self-efficacy and general self-efficacy, Then prove that domain-linked self-efficacy has closer relationship with job stress and work performance than general self-efficacy with them.Because of limited capacity of research, there are some shortcoming in designing and emending the questionnaires; limited research condition, the sample distributing unequal on demographic variables. These may impact the statistical results.
