The Study On Competitiveness Of Shipping Enterprises

Sea transport plays a quite important role in the modern economy, for above 90% goods of international trade are shipped by vessel. With the rapid development of trade freedom and globalization, international shipping presents flourish and the China's shipping industry has been confronted with great opportunity to boom. And the shipping enterprises must enhance their competitive power in order to survive and develop in the open and unrestricted international shipping structure. The shipping industry is the pole industry of China's economy, the improvement of competitiveness of China's shipping industry is important to the whole national competitiveness increasing. This paper absorbs the existing enterprise competitive power theories and carries out the analysis index based on those theories. AHP method is used to make the demonstrational analysis for four representative shipping companies. The main contents of the paper are as follow:Chapter one emphases on the background and meaning of our research, and outline our research frame, contents and method.Chapter two focus on introducing the factors, which affect the competitiveness of the shipping enterprises. We first define the conception of competitiveness and entrepreneur competitiveness. Then we deeply research the factors of entrepreneur competitiveness in order to set up the index of competitiveness of shipping enterprise. Chapter three focus on setting up the competitive index system of shipping enterprise. Then we analyze the meaning of each index from two aspects: external competitiveness and latent competitiveness. In this sector we also introduce the AHP method which is used in our dissertation.Chapter four selects 4 shipping enterprises as sample. We analyze and comparative the competitiveness of the 4 shipping enterprises by using the AHP method.Chapter five proposes some useful suggestions based on the above research from country aspect and entrepreneur aspect.
