The significance of human resource management in the successful management of organizations and institutions remain critical at all levels of development. For an organization to have competitive advantage over others they need to have key human resource practices otherwise known as best practice which has to be at the heart of management practice. This research tries to investigate the impact of human resource practices on the performance of employees at the 34 military hospitals. The research was carried out in Sierra Leone where human resources management is a new phenomenon. The hospital is located in the capital Freetown with sub units around the country.The methods used to carry out the research were both quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative method signifies the methodology used to get secondary data. Whiles in the qualitative methods, a semi-structured approach was used to collect data. The research recommends series of actions to be implemented by the ministry of health and sanitation (MOHS) , thus include to established a HRM department within the ministry and to be extended nationally to build a credible and a reliable management capacity to employ trained and qualified human resource personnel to adequately handles the welfare of its employees to motivate them for better performance and finally to act as an intermediary between the employees and its patents for maximum satisfaction.Employees believed there will be a fair recruitment and selection process with proper induction to adjust to the working environment. Fair transparent reward system based on performance, promotion, training and career development will be addressed in accordance with employment procedures. The employees believed that their performance will improve if they are treated well which will lead to a positive impact on the patients.
