Evaluation On Tourism Development Potential Of Chongqing

Tourism development potential is a kind of underlying capacities which can be brought into play by some stimulating factors in the process of tourism development, and it can promote tourism industry gradually, improve the tourist income constantly and finally raise tourism's sustainable development. The development of tourism in Chongqing City, one of the four municipalities directly under the central government, is significant for its economic promotion. Tourism development potential reflects the subsequent capacity and foreground of tourism in Chongqing. In fact, it is a comprehensive evaluation and estimate of the foreground of tourism development. Evaluating the potential development of tourism in Chongqing city is useful to know the tourism development situation in Chongqing correctly, make sure its development orientation and plan, and promote its development appropriately in the future.First, it established the evaluation indexes system of tourism development potential in this paper. In order to distinguish the tourism development potentials clearly, it designed two standards systems to analysis contrastively including the evaluation indexes system of tourism development support capacity and the evaluation indexes system of existing tourism development capacity. The former system included 4 aspects,32 indexes:economy development support potential, infrastructure, resources and environment protection support potential, government management and policy support potential and society, science, education, culture and sanitation development support potential. The latter one contained 12 indexes:tourist count, tourist income, the number of star hotels and so on.Second, according to the foregoing indexes system, it made the analytic demonstration on the tourism development potential in Chongqing. By collecting the interrelated statistic of Chongqing in 2009, using the principal component analysis, and relying on the SPSS 16.0 statistic analysis software, it got the results as follow:1. From the aspect of regional development distribution, "one hour economic circle area southeast and southwest area in Chongqing":in "One hour economic circle" area, both the existing tourism development capacity and support capacity were great and in some case the support capacity was better than the existing capacity. So this area had the greatest potential. The southeast area in Chongqing had the similar tourism development capacity and potential, but all of them were lower than the average development level in Chongqing. So its development potential was weak. In the northeast area of Chongqing, the existing tourism development capacity exceeded its support capacity, and its further development space is small, so it had the least development potential.2. From the aspect of counties, the circumstance of tourism development potential in Chongqing could be divided into 4 kinds:firstly, the counties with greatest tourism development potential included Jiangjin, Yongchan, Bijiang, Shuangqiao, and Dadu. Secondly, the counties with definite tourism development potential included Yubei, Jiulongpo, Peiling, Nanan, Jiangbei, Wanzhou, Shapingba, Banan, Dazu, Nanchuan, Yuzhong, Beibei, Hechuan, Changshou, Tongliang, Zhong and Kai county. Thirdly, the counties with little tourism development potential included Wushan, Wulong, Rongchang and Dianjiang County. Fourthly, the counties with the least tourism development potential included Fengdu, Fengjie, Tongnan, Liangping, Qijiang,.Xiushan, Qianjiang, Pengshui, Wangsheng, Yunyang, Youyang, Shizhu, Wuxi and Chengkou.In the end, according to the result of the evaluation of tourism development potential in Chongqing, it pointed out the policies for Chongqing to make full use of the tourism development potential in general. and then it gave corresponding suggestions to different potential types counties to promote the tourism development potential themselves.
