Research On Development Strategy Of Biomass Power Industry In China

Since 2006, under the promotion of national policies, China's biomass power industry has achieved rapid development, but there are also many problems, such as: lack of core technology, low import substitution rate; high construction and operation costs, the majority of enterprises running in the red; ill-formed biomass resources market; over-reliance on policies which need to refine; small scale industry and unbalanced regional development; by the threat of other clean energy generation and so on. All of these issues make the development of the industry facing a severe test. In this case, a systematic study is particularly important to the relevant policies and development strategy of biomass power industry.In this paper, based on analysis of the domestic and international development status and relevant policies of biomass power industry, the Chinese environment for the development of biomass power industry was analyzed by using PEST model, Porter Five Forces model and industry life cycle approach etc, which summed up the internal strengths, weaknesses factors and the external opportunities, threats factors. Combined the Delphi method and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP), SWOT quantitative analysis was made, which finally put forward for the industry development strategy and corresponding implement suggestions for the biomass power industry in China.This paper argues that advantages of China's current biomass power industry outweigh disadvantages, opportunities outweigh threats. The industry growth strategy based on opportunities should be adopted, which means good opportunities brought by the policies and continued growth of economy and electricity demand and traditional fossil energy crisis etc, should be firmly grasped while advantages should be well played, in order to regulate and improve all aspects of the industry for the scale of development and industrialization.In a word, this study is to provide a useful help for the rapid and healthy development of China's biomass power industry, and to provide some valuable reference to investors and biomass power plants owners.
