As the fast development of world economy, companies are facing more and more challenges from economy globalization, network technology and knowledge economy. In order to keep the competitiveness and sustainability, companies have to adjust or fine-tune its strategy and tactics voluntarily, so that it is a kind of regular practice which is happening in most companies. Fundamentally speaking, organizational change is people change. No matter how companies initiate change and use what kind of strategy eventually, people management will play the most important role during the change and is the key to success of organization change.In the essay, the author used Walmart's case to elaborate the challenge for employee relation management during the organizational change. The author used Walmart's course of development in China market as the background and gave the example of series of changes happened in Walmart in recent 4 years which included Trust-Mart conversion, liner organization implementation and decentralize merchandising responsibility. Through comparison with the situation before and after the change, the author tried to propose a scheme to solve the problem. The scheme introduced a full plan to combine the joint efforts from C&B, OD and T&D team to work together in six dimensions of Psychological Contract, Performance Evaluation, Position design, Employee Communication, Motivation Scheme and Career Planning. After 1 year's practice according to the scheme, the employee satisfaction rate increased and the high engaged employee showed more discretionary efforts and lead to business success.Improving employee relationship is one of the targets of HR management. However, employee relationship management does not just like recruitment, training, performance evaluation or compensation & benefit. It exists in every process of HR management and influence the daily work. Harmonious employee relationship is working as lubricant to accelerate the development of the company even though we may not feel its existence. People management is the source of problem of employee relationship, so managers is the key to the success of employee relationship. Whether managers are clear about his/her managerial role and find the best way to keep self-discipline and achieve goals, will affect the performance of employee relationship management and further impact the business success.
