Study On The Fleet Development Of COSCO Singapore Company

With the rapid growth of global dry bulk trade and substantial increase in the demand for dry bulk shipping, there are hign level requirement to the dry bulk shipping capacity. How to scale the company's dry bulk fleet planning in order to adapt to global change in dry bulk market, increase market competitiveness, maximize companies' benefits has became the focus of various shipping companies. The planning of the structure and size of the fleet play an important role on the future development of shipping companies. This paper aims to study on the dynamics of COSCO Singapore fleet planning, and provide other shipping companies references on how to plan fleet at the same time.Firstly, it described supply and demand analysis of the global dry bulk shipping market, followed by the introduction and overview of the COSCO Singapore's fleet circumstances and the company's existing fleet analysis of existing issues. After a deep analysis based on recent studies, it first proposed the basic theory of fleet planning and dynamic programming fleet development; followed by a dynamic programming model of COSCO Singapore company fleet, which is based on the actual situation of transport various routes data of COSCO Singapore company; the best fleet planning through the model solution was established. Finally, it proposed the fleet development strategy of COSCO Singapore company. Chapter six of this article summarized the results of this study and weaknesses, and future research was put forward.The results of this article show that:the fleet dynamic programming model is more suitable for planning the future development of the fleet, the results of the plan fit the actual situation of the company, and it can provide an accurate references with good adaptability for future decisions.
