Ewenki ethnic minority is a member of the family of 56 nationalities of China.Ewenkis have created in history both glorious material culture and non-material culture of their own.Folk taboo is one of the connotations of their traditional culture. And it exists not only in their production province but also in their daily life, ranging from hunting, pasturing to agriculture, from clothing, food, housing, marriage, birth, funeral, traveling to interpersonal communication.Besides, folk taboo also exists in their festivals and religious beliefs.Ewenki folk taboos arose with the complex social and historical background, and they are involved with the level of social productive force, the primitive magic, religion, ethics as well as other factors.Meanwhile, folk taboos of the Evenkis exert a profound impact on the Evenki society, for instance,to meet people's psychological needs,to protect the natural environment, and to realize socio-cultural integration. However, the side-effects of folk taboos can not be ignored.Certain taboos prevent people from learning and absorbing advanced science and culture, affect the well running of production activities and people's social life,or restrict normal interpersonal contact and equality and freedom. With a profound study of folk taboos in the Ewenki culture,we are able to grasp such folk cultural phenomena more comprehensively and scientifically. And at the same time,it may contribute to our deeper awareness and understanding of the social and historical development process of Ewenki as well as its long traditional culture as a whole.
