Study About The Structure Upgrading Of Manufacturing In Shandong Under Intra-product Specialization

When the economic globalization develops to a certain stage, the international specialization presents a new shape--intra-product specialization. From outer-industry specialization to intra-industry specialization, and then to intra-product specialization, the specialization becomes more and more detailed and specific.After anglicizing the theory related to intra-product specialization and the upgrading of the manufacturing structure detailed, we obtained the relationship between intra-product specialization and the upgrading of the manufacturing structure: the intra-product specialization is the inevitable result of the upgrading of the manufacturing structure, and intra-product specialization can promote the optimization and upgrading of the manufacturing structure.The development status shows that the manufacturing industry of Shandong developed rapidly in recent years , and it played an important role in revenue, taxation, employment, import and export trade, it was the force to the development of Shandong economy. At the same time, the level of manufacturing participation in intra-product specialization deepened, industries intensive in capital and capital-technology grew faster . All of above indict that the structure of Shandong manufacturing participate in intra-product specialization is improving.Through two empirical testings about the sub-industries' data in 1997-2009, we derived the capital, research investment and the proportion of foreign investment have a positive role in promoting the participation in intra-product specialization of Shandong manufacturing. However, due to the backward technology, the manufacturing industry of Shandong shows low degree of processing and low value-added features in intra-product specialization, and in a low position of the global production value chain system.According to the testing, upgrading the industrial structure of manufacturing is the only choice for Shandong province. Focus the capital on adjustment the industrial structure of manufacturing, increase research investment and improve the capability of independent innovation,increase foreign investment are the methods of strength the competitive of Shandong manufacturing,by these methods we can enhance the position in the global production value chain system and deepen the level of participation in intra-product specialization further.
