With the development of tourism and the experience economy, the rural tourism which offers the tourists the authentic countryside landscape and the theme of returning to the nature has got a rapid development. While the rural tourism brings huge wealth to the society, but the rural area is suffered from such negative effects as urbanization, modernization and commercialization which lead to the unauthentic phenomena of rural area. So in the development and the operation of the rural tourism, how to keep the authenticity and the sustainable development of the rural tourism and satisfy the tourists to seek the authentic, unconventional rural tourism experiences has become an important bottleneck on whether the rural tourism can attract the rural tourists, can keep the sustainable development and promote the local economy development. This thesis paper is based on the background of experience economy to research the authenticity of the rural tourism on how to evaluate the authenticity of the rural tourism experience, how to plan and design the authenticity of the rural tourism and which factors influence the rural tourists' experience authenticity. This thesis paper consists of the following sections:The first section is the introduction. In this section, the background, the purpose, the significance, the methods and the contents of the research are introduced.The second section is the literature review. This section firstly discussed some concepts and theories on experience, the experience authenticity and the experience economy and defined some concepts related to this paper. Secondly, this section reviewed the research progresses on rural tourism and the experience authenticity of home and abroad. Thirdly, this section summarized the deficiency in the field of rural tourism research and put forward the research progresses of this thesis paper.The third section is the theory research. Firstly, this section explained the relativity of the rural tourism experience and did multi-destination study on the authenticity of rural tourism from the attitudes & views of the rural dwellers, the cognition & the understand of the rural tourists and the manufacture & the creation of the tour operators, what's more, the inner mechanism of them is researched. Secondly, the criteria and the evaluation model are constructed from the support & the participation of the rural dwellers and the cognitions of the authenticity on the rural tourism product. Thirdly, in order to offer the rural tourists the authentic process of the rural tourism, the planners should plan and design the experience authenticity of rural tourism from the entering process, the boarding process, the process of the tourism experience and offering the authentic souvenirs.The fourth section is the case study. Firstly, it introduces the states quo of the rural tourism development in Changsha. Secondly, the elements of the authenticity of the rural tourism experience in Changsha are divided into three main categories,6 subcategories, and 26 basic categories. From the analysis of the expectations & the satisfaction and elements influencing the tourists' experience authenticity of the rural tourists, this thesis paper gets the conclusion that the satisfaction of rural tourist on Changsha is low and according to the importance that influencing the tourist's authenticity, the elements can be divided into "the most important factors", "the more important factors", "the common factors" and "the non-relevant factors". Thirdly, it puts forward five suggestions on the rural tourism development of Changsha from constructing the authentic stage, making the authentic boarding and eating process, shaping the real theme, designing the participation experience projects and taping the traditional culture.The fifth section is the summary and the prospect. It summarizes the contents and innovations of this thesis paper, and points out the deficiencies and the prospects for future research.
