Studies On The Rural Residents' Consumption Structure

The study of consumption structure has been an important brand in consumption economics. With the economic crisis occurring in the world, the way we develop our economics driven by export has already faced so much trouble. How to promote the inner demand, so as to keep the development of economics continuous and stable, has focused the attention of the economist. But to most consumption, there has been a situation that its supply exceeded its demand, which make the research of the trend and regularity of the inhabitants` consumption structure more and more important.On the one hand, an important condition to us is that there are still a lot of rural residents in our country, the proportion of which has been great so far, whose consumption level and structure are close to the development of our economics. On the other hand, compared with urban residents, the consumption level of rural residents is still lower. So there is considerable room for improvement, the potential market is broader. According to this viewpoint, the thesis analyzes the consumption of the rural resident in our country in static and dynamic ways.Around the consumption of the rural resident in our country, the thesis consists four parts, which are given as follow:In chapter one, the research background and significance of the thesis are given. In addition, we give a concerning introduction of the research and results at home and abroad as well.In chapter two, we select the data of the rural residents in our country from 1997 to 2009 to analyze the changing process of our rural residents` consumption structure; and the consumption data in 2009 to analyze the difference of consumption structure among the 31 areas. According to the results, we come to conclusions as follow: on the one hand, the income is still the most important affecting factors to the consumption, which is the direct determinant of the rural residents` purchasing power and consumption level. On the other hand, the rural residents have comprehensive the grand goal of building a moderately prosperous society in a whole. The proportion of the enjoyment in consumption has increased significantly, and began to pursue more and more spirit consumption.In chapter three, in the basis of previous studies, the thesis constructs the ELES model about the consumption of rural residents, and then estimates the coefficients in OLS. According to the results of the coefficient test and fit test, we adjust the model above appropriately.In chapter four, according to the estimates of the adjusted model, we analyze the basic characteristics and elasticity of the rural residents` consumption structure. The results tell us that the rural residents` uncertain expectation of future remain high, and still pay more attention to precautionary savings, so as to the marginal propensity to consume is significantly lower; transportation ,communication, housing, education consumption are the hot consumption. In contrast their consumption is greatly affected by the level of income and their prices, which show that the rural residents have a stronger desire for these consumptions. No matter increasing the rural residents` income or lowering the prices, will be good to increase consumption among rural residents; changes in food prices impact all other consumptions largely, the degree of which only lower than that their own prices changes impacting on, so we should continue to strengthen the efforts to keep the food prices stable.
