In recent years, food safety accidents occur frequently in China, and how to improve our country's food safety regulation has become the focus of social attention and a widespread problem. After food safety regulation and other related concepts defined, the author citing market failure theory explains the necessity and importance of food safety regulation. With laws, regulatory authority and regulatory measures three aspects as starting points, it indicates the primal problems of our country food safety current situation and food safety regulation status, then introduces the relevant regulation experience in foreign countries and summarizes the features in common as enlightenment. On the basis of combing with the actual situation in China and the regulation experience abroad, it points out the suggestions and countermeasures for Chinese food safety regulation improvement in several aspects, such as improving the legal, strengthening the unity and efficiency of regulatory authority, improving the regulation technology level, and encouraging the multi-agent participation, etc.
