The thermal control system is an essential part of equipments in thermal power plant, whose safe operation relates to safe operation of the whole unit, thus its safety evaluation is critically meaningful. And the online safety assessment of thermal control system is also important part of the online safety assessment of whole power plant. According to theories and methods of system assessment online safety assessment of thermal control system is researched.Firstly, index system of online safety assessment of thermal control system is constructed, which is arranged in hierarchical structure. Calculation methods of index value are given as well as its on-line acquisition methods, then index value are pretreated, which include the non-dimensional indicators of treatment.Secondly, methods of determining initial weights are presented. Initial weights in index layer are determined by AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process), and initial weights in criterion layer are determined by calculation of the ratio of deserved scores in Delphi method. To strengthen the influence on the overall evaluation, which results from small faults factors, a variable weight method is proposed. This is, due to the introduction of the variable weight principle based on balanced function, index weights are corrected by index values. Then a comprehensive assessment method, which combines fuzzy synthesize assessment with fuzzy pattern recognition, is proposed. The safety of thermal control system is evaluated by it and analyses of instances show that the assessment method is feasible and effective.Lastly, software system of online safety assessment is developed under GUI environment in MATLAB, which make online safety assessment of thermal control system mark a major step forward in the actual application.
