Research On The Effects Of TBT On The Mechanical And Electronic Products Export Of China

Economic globalization and trade liberalization have gradually weakened the impact of tariff and non-tariff barriers. TBT(Technical Barriers to Trade) have been more and more widely adopted by developed countries, and have become the main methods of trade protectionism implemented by developed countries. To a certain extent, the large amount of TBT have hampered the smooth development of international trade. As mechanical and electronic products have become the main exports, they suffer the most serious impact of TBT.On the base of elaborating on the methods and results of TBT researched both at home and abroad, this paper first describes the TBT basic knowledge, mainly including the concept, characteristics, forms, and reasons of technical trade barriers; secondly this paper analyzes the economic effects of TBT in detail, pionting out that in short time the effects of TBT on export trade may be negative, while in the long term the effects may be positive; Then in combination with the export status quo of mechanical and electronic products, this paper analyzes the actual effects of TBT on mechanical and electronic products exports, including the impact on the social economy of China, the major forms of foreign TBT that mechanical and electronic products encounter; through searching large amount of data and applying general econometric model, this paper uses gravity model especially to analyze the effect of TBT on mechanical and electronic products. The result indicates that at present the effects of TBT on mechanical and electronic products exports are negative. TBT cause a great loss to the mechanical and electronic products exports of China, and to a certain extent, hamper the development of the mechanical and electronic products exports; Finally, according to the reasons causing the negative effects of TBT on mechanical and electronic products exports, this paper puts forward proposals on how mechanical and electronic products exports can bypass the TBT for the government, the electromechanical industry and the electromechanical enterprises, thus to promote the continuous, healthy and...
