Iron and steel industry is an important foundation for the development of nation-building; it is an important pillar industry of national economy. China's steel industry is currently a trend is the development of iron and steel enterprises to the eastern coastal areas, relying on coastal deep-water port construction steel large projects. Nationally, steel production is oversupply, while on the western regional market; the supply of steel production is less than the demand, including the southwest region and the"Pearl River Delta".This paper analyzed the process of concentration obtained over iron and steel industry will focus on the negative impact of coastal areas for some time past to the east of the Chinese steel industry, and then qualitative and quantitative analyzed the appropriate development of steel industry in the western regionb , iron and steel industry of the future consideration should be given the spatial distribution of ore, fuel, water, electricity, environment, market and other areas with better conditions and regional economic and social development, and actively play the comprehensive advantages of the western region and development needs; in the west development, adjust investment structure, construction of infrastructure in western; iron and steel industry should increase technology development investment, strengthen technological innovation for the steel industry restructuring ; actively promote the restructuring of our steel industry organizations to achieve intensive production.Chinese steel industry development should consider the western region development advantages and stable requirement. Excessive concentration to the eastern region is not conducive to western and China's overall economic development strategies.
