During recent decade, with the development of computer network technology, the applications of the artificial intelligence methods in construction project management have become a hot research topic. Case-based reasoning (CBR) technology is one of the artificial intelligence methods which have risen in recent years.By searching similar case to the current issue from case base, the results for solving current issues are obtained.It has been particularly applied to the field in which it is difficult to express knowledge with mathematics models and need rich experiences.The basic idea of CBR coincides with the idea in the practice of construction project management (CPM).In CPM, the knowledge and experiences of past case are very important to the new project, construction managers have to rely on their knowledge and experience to solve current issues in a creative way. So CBR can be used to the field of CPM. In regard to this, this thesis combines CBR with CPM and makes research as follows:Firstly, based on the concepts and the reasoning process of CBR, a CBR mechanism to fit the CPM is put forward and a CBR engineering project consulting system is established. Important attributes of construction project are extracted to express project and a project case database is established; A dynamic analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is adopted to determine the weight of the attributes;Similar cases are retrieved by an indexical and similarity retrieval mechanism; man-computer cooperative method is adopted to revise the outcomes and a new case retain regulation is submitted.Secondly, the foreground application of the CBR engineering project consulting system is developed by LabVIEW8.5 and SQL Server2005.The system is used to the fields of cost estimating and consulting service recommendation. The example demonstrates that the CBR system is effective, and this system can offer useful references for decision-making about investment.Thirdly, a system assessment model adapting to the CBR system is introduced. The evaluation index system is established and the AHP is adopted to confirm the index weight, then the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is applied to make an assessment for the CBR system. The assessment process in the CBR-based engineering project consulting system is specified by analog simulation. Finally, the architecture and functional structure of the engineering project consulting system based on B/S are built. Partial functional modules are achieved by the network technology, the thesis attempt to establish an engineering project consulting system with accuracy, authority, versatility, practicability and ease of operation which can realize the information resource sharing.
