Cylinder is the most important carding component of the comber, the cardingefficiency and quality of final products are effected by processing property of thecylinder. Considering the characteristics of high-efficiency, new type comber and thehigh quality requirements of consumer, this paper studied the front angle and density ofcylinder card wires.The front angle of different nipper positions or technological parameteres of cardingor properties of textile fiber are calculated by Matlab and plane geometry. The resultsshow that:(1) the front angle of cylinder varies with carding time, at the beginning ofcarding, the front angle is larger than later, and it is reduced gradually during carding.(2)the front angle of cylinder varies with carding gauge and carding region etc.The density of cylinder card wires has been discussed as follows:(1) the density ofcylinder card wires was selected and distributed by fiber type or processing equipmentsor processing technologies and requirements of yarn quality.(2) the carding area ofcylinder was divided into “Prepare Carding,“Carding”,“Preliminary Combing” and“Combing” from front to the back with cylinder, and the density of cylinder card wiresincreases gradually.(3) we analyzed the influence of cylinder carding with degree offiber filling between adjacent card wires and carding degree of each row of card wires.In order to verify the influence of combing products quality by using different cardwires densities, we conducted an experiment under the same comber and the sametechnological condition on9095type cylinder and five new type cylinders which haveincreased the card wires density. The results show that: the strength of carding enhanceswith the increase of cylinder density under the suitable process conditions, it effectivelyeliminates short fibers, neps and impurities and improves the fiber straightness, and thenthe quality of yarn and combed slivers are improved.
