The high-speed milling processing is the development direction of the modern machining, but the high-speed milling processing still had many problems in the practical application, they need be researched through the high-speed milling experiment. The cutting force and the cutting temperature are responded the key parameter of the processing, these parameters have the practical significance to the high-speed milling processing’s research. The existing cutting force and the cutting temperature examination system mostly is set of independent systems. This paper develops a set of control system which integrate the numerical control system and the examination control system, it not only reduced the partial hardware of equipment, reduced the cost, but also causes the function of system to be more centralized. The system may corresponding record cutting path, the cutting force and the cutting temperature and may draw up the diagram of cutting force and the cutting temperature which reflect the influence of the cutting tool and the cutting specifications. It provided the valid data for reasonable choice of the high-speed milling cutting tool, cutting specifications and also for the optimization of cutting path, it is advantageous for the high-speed milling processing research.Considering the characteristics and control request of system, this paper proposes a "PC+PLC" structured integration control system for high-speed milling experiment platform which can realize the ATC function uses existing high-speed electric spindle, tool magazine and so on. The PLC is used to realize real-time control and the PC is used to operate background managing and man-machine conversation. The two which are connected by real-time and credible communication between them work to complete machining task.Both hardware and software of the integration control system for high-speed milling experiment platform are studied in this paper. This paper studied hardware architecture of system, analysis each part of hardware’s function and the principle, and designed system’s hardware architecture. This paper focuses more on software design of the system. Considering the hardware and control request of system, analyzing the working principle of the software and fully thinking about the characteristic of the integration system, this paper proposed to develop man-machine interface by the configuration software in a modularized designing method. The man-machine interface designed the operation interface of the high-speed milling experiment which containing many functions about electrical spindle control, the tool magazine control, the motion control, the cutting force and cutting temperature acquisition. It also designed the interface with the functions about the real-time display of the cutting force and cutting temperature, the data analysis and the date storage. Communication between PC and PLC are realized through the internal communication protocol module of the configuration software. The PLC program, including spot moving program, coordinates origin returning program, positioning program, feeding motion program, the electric spindle’s speed and position control program, the ATC program and the data acquisition program of cutting force and cutting temperature.According to the organization of high-speed milling experiment platform, this paper constructed the simulation high-speed milling experiment platform using the cross work table, and carried on the debugging to the control system. The testing results show that the integration control system works well and easy to operation, the man-machine interface is friendly, and it can realize the high-speed milling experiment platform’s control request as well as the cutting force and the cutting temperature examination request.
