In modern cutting technology, more attention has been paid to high-speed cutting. Forrecent20years, it has been rapidly developed in industrial developed countries, and it hasbeen widely used in aerospace, automotive, mold processing and motorcycle industry.Because of the successful application of high-speed cutting technology in large high-speedmachines, the small mechanical processing industries also begin to use the high-speedcutting technology. This study focuses on a small high-speed machine, whose machinespindle is a high-speed asynchronous motor, which can achieve a speed of60000r/min,with high processing efficiency and good processing effect.The core processing components of the milling machine is a high-speed asynchronousmotor, whose control performance will directly affect the possibility of obtainingsatisfactory processing effects. Therefore, the performance of high-speed spindle controlsystem is extremely important. In order to guarantee the machine efficiency, the outputtorque of the spindle needs to maintain constant. Therefore, the paper studies the structureand working principle of high-speed asynchronous motor in detail, and then selects theappropriate control method according to actual processing request, and designs ahigh-speed spindle control system based on DSP2407chip, and validate the controlefficiency of the system by experiment.Firstly, the paper describes the background and development trend of milling machinesand high-speed drilling spindles, briefly introduces the structure, load characteristics andthe main control methods of the high-speed spindle. Secondly, the paper defines the optimalcontrol method according to the load characteristics of high-speed spindle, and thensimplifies the control method according to the characteristics of the high-speed spindle.Finally, the paper designs a high-speed spindle control system based on DSP2407chip, andintroduces the hardware design, the software flow chart and the achievable method ofsystem in detail. The control system designed in the paper, which meets the requirements ofthe spindle in normal processing and reduces the cost at the same time. And this paperoptimizes the starting and braking performance of high-speed spindle, and improves theprocessing efficiency of machine.By verifying the designed speed control system and testing on-site processing, itsresult shows that the speed control system designed in the paper can meet the processingrequirements of milling machine, which has a high reliability.
