Yarn’s three-dimensional modeling technology is the core content of textile CAD3D designsoftware, which determines the quality of yarn, fabric’s simulation effect. This article focuses onthe use of three C-Cardinal spline interpolation to built the curved path of strands inthree-dimensional space,which takes advantage of its good interpolation to get the track of thecenterline,then the strands’ apparent forms were built by making a series of strands cross-sectionaccumulation and rotation with each other.The centerline simulation rendering of the strands intwo and in three-dimension were obtained by setting the three C-Cardinal spline data points in thetwo and three-dimensional space,achieving the strands WYSIWYG functionality.The different twist size of strands was obtained by setting the range and phase difference ofthe adjacent cross-section in the strands model.The different twist direction of strands was obtainedthrough setting the rotation direction of the strands cross-section.The different yarn levelness wassimulated by setting the polygonal cross-section,even the reversed shape in the form of single fiberin the ply yarn could be obtained.For more realistic design about the three-dimensional shape of the ply yarn,research based onVisual Studio C++2010programming platform makes use of the light source of open graphicslibrary from OpenGL to set function,which adds the shading effect for a three-dimensionalsimulation environment so there achieves the effect of shading gradients in three-dimensionalspace,which is much in line with human visual perception.Meanwhile, the use of the materialfunction setting in OpenGL adds the different color material for the single fiber in order to reflectthe ingredients of the ply yarn.Finally,the strands designed by the above method were applied toplain fabrics,confirming the feasibility of the three C-Cardinal splines and cross-sectional cumulative basis over the ply yarn model simulation,which provides a simple mathematical modelbuilding methods for the future three-dimensional simulation of textile CAD system.
