Beijing’s transportation energy consumption is growing rapidly, it almost exceedthe living consumption to become Beijing’s second largest energy consumer industries.Energy consumption generated a lot of carbon dioxide, controlling carbon emissionsis an important responsibility we have to face today. How to control carbon emissionswhile achieving economic growth is currently a serious problem in Beijing. Inaddition, the polluting gases from energy consumption had a significant impact onatmospheric environment. Therefore, the study of this article has important practicalsignificance on improving the transport of carbon productivity, easing energy pressureand carbon emissions pressure, improving air quality of Beijing. This paper analyzes the current situation of energy consumption and presentproblems of transportation sector in Beijing, estimates the2000-2012carbonemissions of Beijing transportation using top-down approach and PICC method, itsestimation results are analyzed and then the carbon productivity can be get. This alsoanalyzes the Decoupling Indicator between economic development and carbonemissions of transportation sector. According to the existing researches, it summarizesfourteen influencing factors of carbon productivity in Beijing’s transportation sectorand establishes PLS model for empirical analysis. Finally, some recommendations toimprove carbon productivity of Beijing’s transportation sector have been given. The main conclusions are:(1) The public transportation passenger volume perunit vehicle, cargo volume, energy structure, cargo turnover, fixed asset investmentare the most important factors affecting carbon productivity from Beijing transport.(2)The factors which have negative relationship with transport carbon productivity arefixed asset investment, transport infrastructure investment, No. of public transportvehicle, energy price index, road area per capita and R&D input.(3) Energy priceindex, road area per capita and R&D input are not significant in all factors. Conclusions can get a reasonable explanation and be in line with the objective facts ofBeijing, it also demonstrates the validity of the model.
