| Cooling is the key to thermoplastic injection moulding process,which influences the shape,size precision, appearance quality and production efficiency of plastic parts. Cooling channelsaround cavity are the core of cooling system of injection mold. Limited by processingconditions,conventional cooling is obtained from drilling straight holes on the template.Especially for mold cavity with complex geometry, uneven cooling turned out easily. Conformalcooling has uniform and quick cooling for plastic melt. The designing and manufacturing ofinjection mold with conformal cooling has been considered as difficulty and hot topic. In thispaper, the process and method of optimization design for injection mold with conformal coolingwas present based on Computer-Aided Design and Computer Aided Engineering. And this kindof mold was obtained by indirect manufacturing technology. The specific studies are as follows:(1)Runner system was built based on analysis of gate location, and optimized by analysis offilling and packing. The optimal process parameters combination was obtained by analysis ofmolding.(2)Based on runner system, the whole structure of injection mold was built. Mathematicalmodel and CAD model of conformal cooling was built.(3)The performance of injection mold was analyzed, and cooling system was optimized. Inorder to check whether the mold met requirements for safety production, analysis of stiffness andstrength was present.(4)Sand mold of injection mold will be obtained by three-dimensional printing, then sandcasting will be used, and metal injection mold will be obtained after a series of post-processing.(5)Taking the mould of carbon tank for example, the performance of injection mold will betest in practical manufacturing environment. |
